Solar-powered dairy case

Cooked by the summer sun, a few orders of Butter-and-eggs (Linaria vulgaris) brighten the main entry path of Weltz Park.

Chicortreat

Like cupped rays of pale blue moonlight, these Chicory flowers (Cichorium intybus) were practically glowing along the edges of the park trail.

Young plant with a horn

Blaring orange, the flowers of this Trumpet creeper vine (Campsis radicans) put on quite a show to be seen, if not heard. These were near one entrance to the Union Transportation Trail in Upper Freehold.

Blue in the place

A pleasing stretch of violets is blooming in one of the open lawns of Thompson Park. They may be Common blue violets (Viola sororia), appropriately the state flower of New Jersey.

A patch of blue

This fuzzy-fat bumble bee was having his afternoon meal in a patch of blue wildflowers between one of the park paths and the nearby woods. Lunch seems to have been catered by Gill-Over-The-Ground, Ground Ivy, or Creeping Charlie (Glechoma hederacea).
