Rocky Picture Show

On a narrow strip of land between Henry Hudson Trail and Sandy Hook Bay, boulders and rocks were alternately covered with moss or ice, creating a mixed spring-like and wintry vista.

Unconcerned by nearby strollers, this Northern mockingbird flew into a bush right along a paved path that circles Franklin Lake. After conducting a cursory survey of the available berries, he approved and sampled same.

Outside, er, art

Suggesting a shimmering cave painting or an abstract expressionist work, the dark sand and swaths of orange ooze (presumably from iron bacteria of the Sphaerotilus-Leptothrix group) transform a park stream into a museum of natural art.
