Willow Maize

While most of the buds on this willow tree were still quite fluffily plush, a few on one branch were already beginning to pop into bright yellow, corn-shaped flowers.

Meow sticks

In the marshier area of the park, several trees — I think Pussy willows (Salix discolor) — have branches lined with small cottonball catkins hatching out of their brown egg-like casings.
