Lower the Brown Lantern

Caught upright on some dry briars, a large leaf formed a daytime beacon on the forest floor as the sun shone through its veined parchment. Might be from a Red oak tree (Quercus rubra).

Jellyfish epaulets

Dangling down and drifting through the branch currents, this swarm of oak-tassel jellies festoon the tree like so many fringy epaulets. (No markers in this park, but it may be a red oak.)
