Juxtaposed swamp meet

An attractive Skunk cabbage — bright green with a plum-colored comma-like accent — provided a sharp contrast with the less appealing bog water it was growing in.

Figure of preach

Looking a bit like a mutant bell pepper, this Matango-esque seed head is just the topper for the exuberant woodland stick figure formed by a Jack-in-the-pulpit. (Earlier post about the leafier stage of this kind of plant.)

Orange peel

When backlit by sunlight, this peeling bark has a pretty orangey glow. Don’t know whether the plant is a small tree or a lanky shrub, but it’s usually just at the edge of a wooded area.
