Tangled up in pink

Not sure what the real story is here, but this small punky willow with spiky green dos seems to be literally captivated by its more elegant (if clinging) pink-blossomed companion.

Pink jalapeño slippers

The colorful clumps of flowers on this small tree look like a cobbler’s rack of purply-pink pepper-shaped shoes, ready for sale. (No marker, but seems to be a Judas tree (Cercis siliquastrum).)

Flower fruit

Another cherry tree in the park, Amanogawa cherry (prunus serrulata ‘Amanogawa’). The pink parcel on the end of this small branch dangling down like a soft, flowery fruit.

Pink Flowering Sunshine

Thought I would post a pretty pink picture to brighten what has been a dismal grey day, at least in New Jersey. Love the name, too: Rosy Cloud Cherry (prunus subhirtella). Sounds like a good song title for Takako Minekawa.
