A new leaf

Like the bony hand of a skeleton, the bare twigs of this maple tree cradle its newly emerging leaves and flowers with a gentle, if somewhat spooky, touch.

The Seven (or more) Samaras

Less than two weeks ago, the seed pods of this Red maple tree (I think) were still hanging on and in the pink. By now, though, most have taken flight and dimmed to a dusky brown.

Maple leaf sag

I think this drooping pair is part of a Sugar maple tree (Acer saccharum). While still fairly bright a week ago, the leaves were beginning to pale. By now they’re probably crispy brown ground cover.
