More amber autumn notes, this time composed by a Katsura tree.

A bird in the hand

The reaching red hands of the Katsura tree have since sprouted leafy wings. For some reason the combined shapes remind me of the head of a Great crested grebe.

Clutching at stars

The thin, red tendril-like shoots of this Katsura tree (Cercidiphyllum japonica) are grouped along each branch like pairs of tiny hands reaching up to grasp every sun ray they can.
