Leaning power of risa

This gull — perhaps a non-breeding Laughing gull (Leucophaeus atricilla) — was in the process of abandoning its post on the Manasquan Reservoir. The tip of its dark beak was daubed with a dull hint of red.

Wild-goose place

The wildlife refuge played host to a large number of Snow geese (Chen caerulescens) last week. Some members of this flock were flying around, while others were content to meander about on land with a few of their gull friends.
