Stripy leaf-stripper

Very near the end of the particular leaf it was enjoying, this Monarch caterpillar somehow managed to hold on to what little stalk was left to reach the last few mouthfuls of milkweed.

Halloween costume

This Woolly bear caterpillar looks appropriate for the season in its orange & black fur coat. When he (or she) grows up, it’ll be as an Isabella tiger moth (Pyrrharctia isabella).
