The Fanned Illusion

At a passing glance, this formation looked like a rather large moth resting on the side of a tree. Not sure, but I think it’s some kind of shelf fungus.

An early frosting

This odd fungus was rather eye-catching, as it looked as if someone had taken a bag of white icing and piped it in swirls around some low stems.

Brief Encounter of the Ocher Kind

Along one of the forest paths, clusters of yellow-capped mushrooms seemed to sprout up overnight. Within a few days, they were gone. Might be a type of Honey fungus (Armillariella mellea).

Let a ‘shroom be your umbrella

Just waiting to embellish an exotic cocktail, these umbrella-shaped mushrooms chose the middle of a woodchip path to come up. Might be in the genus Parasola (perhaps Parasola auricoma).

… and a park ridge with a pear-shaped tree-like thing

Growing along one of the hillier trails in the park, one clump of bright green moss suggested both a plump pear and a rather squatty evergreen.

The Enchanted Gummy-bear Broccoli Forest

Looking as if someone had emptied boxes of frozen florets, gel-like green mushrooms sprouted here and there in one of the sandier sections of Weltz Park. The fungi might be some type of Waxcap (genus Hygrocybe).

Guacamolde

Little bits of mold-like moss or lichen grew in just the right way around a fallen log’s knot to suggest a split avocado.
