Three-phased flare-up

A sandy, almost desert-like section of Weltz Park was flecked with impressionistic paint dots of sunny yellow cactus flowers.

The Devil’s-tongue cacti (Opuntia humifusa) were in various stages of bloom, but enough were at peak glow to color the landscape nicely.
