Lightly fluttering about their branch in soft breeze, the golden leaves of this Maidenhair tree (Ginkgo biloba) might be a group of yellow butterflies taking flight.

    That’s what I wondered as soon as I saw your title — “Wait, I thought those were leaves. Are they really butterflies??” This does look a lot like those pictures of branches with a bunch of migrating monarchs on them. So it could have been yellow butterflies.
