Even though his red headdress wasn’t visible at the time, I think this little guy is a Ruby-crowned kinglet (Regulus calendula).

He was busy darting in and out of the bushes along the edge of Franklin Lake looking for small insects among the leaves, briefly hovering like a hummingbird from time to time.
