 Snow white silk

Snow white silk

This neatly wrapped tissue paper parcel was hanging out near a woodland lake. It may be the cocoon of a Promethea moth (Callosamia promethea), not sure.

If the moth type is correct, its alternate name — Spicebush silkmoth — may provide a clue as to its chosen host plant.
