Spotted flick

Spotted flick

Rear view

This Northern flicker (Colaptes auratus) was surprisingly serene and patient while perched on a snowy branch.

A spiffy lad, he sports a wide mustache, scarlet neckband, & speckled waistcoat and looks perenially ready for dinner with his black bib.

The white patch on his backside may add a bit of winter camouflage.
