Primeval piñata



Suspended at the end of a branch like a party-game candy container ready for whacking, this hornet’s nest is probably vacant by now.

Its construction is nothing short of astonishing, especially considering the relative size of its builders (perhaps Bald-faced hornets (Dolichovespula maculata)).
