Imitation of Life

Mock – yeah
ing – yeah
bird – yeah
yeah – yeah

Perhaps not quite up to the ‘grand impersonator’ level of the Lyrebird (see video link below), the Northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) is still a very talented imitator of life.

This one had nice stage presence near the top of a small tree, but wasn’t in a mood to sing at the time.

    It is quite interesting to watch the interaction between mockingbirds and raptors. The former are quite fearless even up against the much larger hawk and will chase them away from their nest.
