"Snapper, turtle on the move!"

“Snapper, turtle on the move!”

This may be one of the snapping turtles we’ve seen basking in the swampy pond, but on this day, he or she was across the pathway from there — moving from a nearby creek to the butterfly bush garden.

Lying flat at first, it looked like a leather satchel someone had left on the ground. The surrounding clover should give some idea of size.
